I alterbildet er det satt inn et ikon fra 1200-tallet (se over) og under alteret ligger levningene til den hellige Gregor av Nazianz (den yngre) &#8211; som man <a href=\"http:\/\/www.katolsk.no\/biografier\/historisk\/gnazians\">her kan lese om p\u00e5 katolsk.no<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/aomoi.net\/blogg\/bilder\/OurLadyofSuccour-altar.jpg\" alt=\"OurLadyofSuccour-altar\" width=\"600\" height=\"850\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10026\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aomoi.net\/blogg\/bilder\/OurLadyofSuccour-altar.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aomoi.net\/blogg\/bilder\/OurLadyofSuccour-altar-494x700.jpg 494w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Om alteret <a href=\"http:\/\/stpetersbasilica.info\/Altars\/OurLadyofSuccour\/OurLadyofSuccour.htm\">kan man lese<\/a> (se ogs\u00e5 <a href=\"http:\/\/stpetersbasilica.info\/floorplan.htm\">oversikt over hele Peterskirken<\/a>): <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On the back wall is the Altar of Our Lady of Succor, embellished with the rarest alabaster, amethysts and other semi-precious stones, and four superb columns of African marble and green porphyry, the work of G. Muziano (1528-1592). <\/p>\n<p>It is called after the 12th-century fresco framed above the altar, brought here by Gregory XIII in 1578. <\/p>\n<p>The remains of St. Gregory of Nazianzus (d. 390), one of the great theologians from Cappadocia, are preserved in a porphyry urn beneath the altar.
