… Although she was just a humble young woman from a small town, Mary\u2019s total \u201cyes\u201d to God was \u201cthe most important \u2018yes\u2019 of history\u201d and overturned Adam and Eve\u2019s prideful \u201cno\u201d, which unleashed sin into the world, Pope Francis has said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith generosity and trust like Mary, may each of us say this personal \u2018yes\u2019 to God today,\u201d Pope Francis prayed as he recited the Angelus prayer with visitors in St Peter\u2019s Square on the feast of the Immaculate Conception.<\/p>\n
Even when they do not say \u201cno\u201d to God, human beings can be experts in saying, \u201cyes, but \u2026\u201d to God, the Pope said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo avoid saying \u2018no\u2019 outright to God, we say, \u2018Sorry, but I can\u2019t,\u2019 \u2018Not today, but maybe tomorrow,\u2019 \u2018Tomorrow I will be better, tomorrow I will pray, I\u2019ll do good tomorrow,’\u201d he said. But in responding that way, \u201cwe close the door to what is good and evil profits.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Pope Francis said, God keeps trying to reach out and save us. And through the \u201cyes\u201d of Mary, he became human, \u201cexactly like us except for one thing, that \u2018no,\u2019 that sin. This is why he chose Mary, the only creature without sin, immaculate.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
