Slik skriver Magister:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230; for the young and dynamic bishop of Trondheim, Norway, <strong>Erik Varden<\/strong>, who is showing himself to be one of the wisest and most spirited voices of Catholicism today, the \u201cph\u00e1rmakon\u201d that can heal the Church of the plague of abuse is &#8230;\u00a0 that \u201cmedicine of immortality\u201d which is one of the most ancient definitions of the Eucharist.<\/p>\n<p>He writes and argues this in an article in the latest issue of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/rivista.vitaepensiero.it\/scheda-articolo_digital\/erik-varden\/le-ferite-della-chiesa-e-le-vie-di-guarigione-888888_2022_0003_0063-371903.html\"><strong>Vita e Pensiero<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d the magazine of the Catholic University of Milan, the salient passages of which are reproduced below.<\/p>\n<p>Varden acknowledges and approves of the practical, judicial measures adopted by the Catholic Church to stem the plague. But they are not everything. Because the essential is elsewhere. It is in that source and summit of Church life which is precisely the Eucharist, the sacrifice of the Lamb who bears all the burden of the sins of the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore sin is \u2018taken away,\u2019\u201d he writes, \u201cit must be taken on and endured.\u201d Like Jesus on the cross. The Church needs to make a penitential journey with its main route in the Eucharist.
