Speaking after his Angelus in Castel Gandolfo, the Holy Father said, \u201cUnfortunately, yet again, comes news of death and violence,\u201d and expressed his deep sorrow. He reiterated a \u201cgrief-stricken\u201d appeal to all to forever abandon the way of hatred and to flee from the logic of evil.<\/p>\n<p>Before reciting the Angelus, the Pope reflected on the importance of one\u2019s conscience is doing good and avoiding evil. He was speaking about the first reading from Sunday\u2019s Mass, which spoke of King Solomon, who had prayed to God to give him a meek heart, meaning a developed conscience to determine between good and evil.<\/p>\n<p>The Pope said, \u201cSolomon\u2019s example applies to everyone\u2026The moral conscience presupposes a capacity to listen to the voice of truth, and to be meek towards its indications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn reality,\u201d Pope Benedict XVI said, \u201cthe true quality of our own life and that of society depends on a person\u2019s rightly formed conscience, and on everyone\u2019s capacity to recognise good, separating it from evil, and to try and bring it about patiently to contribute to the cause of justice and peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Holy Father added, \u201cPeople called to political office naturally have more responsibilities, and thus, as Solomon teaches, need God\u2019s help even more.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fra katolsk.no: Pave Benedikt XVI ba s\u00f8ndag for ofrene etter fredagens tragiske hendelser ved regjeringskvartalet og Ut\u00f8ya.
