Many congregations lost their \u201cfundamental sense that the liturgy is Jesus Christ himself acting, God himself acting in our midst to sanctify us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cardinal Burke said greater access to the traditional Latin Mass, now known as the \u201cextraordinary form\u201d of the Roman rite, has helped to correct the problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe celebration of the Mass in the extraordinary form is now less and less contested,\u201d he noted, \u201cand people are seeing the great beauty of the rite as it was celebrated practically since the time of Pope Gregory the Great\u201d in the sixth century.<\/p>\n<p>Many Catholics now see that the Church\u2019s \u201cordinary form\u201d of Mass, celebrated in modern languages, \u201ccould be enriched by elements of that long tradition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In time, Cardinal Burke expects the Western Church\u2019s ancient and modern forms of Mass to be combined in one normative rite, a move he suggests the Pope also favors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems, to me, that what he has in mind is that this mutual enrichment would seem to naturally produce a new form of the Roman rite \u2014 the \u2018reform of the reform,\u2019 if we may \u2014 all of which I would welcome and look forward to its advent.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Den amerikanske kardinalen Raymond Burke sier i et intervju at den tradisjonelle messen blir brukt stadig mer (og blir gradvis mer akseptert), at den kan berike m\u00e5ten vi feirer den nye messen p\u00e5, og at man om ikke s\u00e5 veldig lenge vil kunne forandre den nye messen i retning av den gamle: &#8230;
