I Storbritania vil en ny «Likhetslov» tre i kaft i april, og denne loven vil tvinge alle adopsjonskontorer til \u00e5 formidle barn ogs\u00e5 til homofile par. Katolske ledere (sammen med anglikanske og muslimske) har bedt om \u00e5 f\u00e5 dsipensasjoner fra denne regelen, men det sier stasminister Blair at de ikke vil f\u00e5. De vil f\u00e5 en overgangsperiode fram til januar 2009, men ikke mer.<\/p>\n

H\u00f8yst sannsynlig vil dette f\u00f8re til at alle katolske adopsjonskontorer i Storbritania vil stenge, for Kirken vil ikke g\u00e5 med p\u00e5 dette kravet. Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, Westminster, president of the bishops’ conference of England and Wales, said in a statement that today’s decision is deeply disappointing.<\/p>\n

Last week the cardinal pointed out in a letter sent to Prime Minister Tony Blair and members of the Cabinet that proposed sexual orientation regulations would require Catholic agencies to «act against the principles of Catholic teaching.» \u2028\u2028<\/p>\n
