Enkelte aviser er da i dag heller ikke forn\u00f8yd med pavens presisering &#8211; og det m\u00e5tte man vel ogs\u00e5 vente.<\/p>\n<p>I g\u00e5r sa paven bl.a. at   <i><font color=\"#333399\">\u201cthe sufferings and the injustices inflicted by the colonizers on the indigenous populations, who often saw their fundamental human rights trampled upon,\u201d and cannot be forgotten. &#8230; &#8230; he pope\u2019s comments today suggest that when Benedict said on Sunday that Christ was not an \u201cimposition,\u201d he meant the teachings of Christianity, not the concrete behavior of Christian colonizers \u2013 whom, Benedict admitted, were sometimes guilty of \u201cunjustifiable crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Benedict said, there were also Christian missionaries and theologians who defended the natives, such as Bartolomeo de Las Casas and Francesco da Vitoria of the University of Salamanca. Acknowledging the mixed historical record, he said, \u201cmust not prevent us from noting with gratitude the marvelous work performed by divine grace among these populations in the course of the centuries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, in the epoch of globalization, this Catholic identity still presents itself as the most adequate response,\u201d Benedict XVI said, \u201cprovided that it\u2019s animated by a serious doctrinal formation and by the principles of the social doctrine of the church.\u201d<\/font><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Denne analysen har jeg tatt fra John Allen.
