Sist s\u00f8ndag kom en (amerikansk) kirkegjenger til meg og informerte om en stor unders\u00f8kelse om katolikker i USA<\/a>, nylig offentliggjort av Den amerikanske bispekonferansen. Han la vekt p\u00e5 det samme som bloggen The New Liturgical Movement skriver<\/a>; at yngre katolikker er mer konservative enn mellomgenerasjonen. (Unders\u00f8kelsen gir ogs\u00e5 mye informasjon som ikke er s\u00e6rlig positiv; bl.a. om de mange som ikke kommer i kirken.) Data on the Millennial generation show young Mass-attending Catholics more akin to pre-Vatican Catholics in regard to religious beliefs as well as practices.<\/p>\n

Among Catholics attending Mass at least once a month, the Millennials are just as likely to believe the basic Catholic tenet that Christ is really present in the Eucharist as pre-Vatican II Catholics.<\/p>\n

Among this same group, the Millennials are the most likely to observe Lenten practices. More than nine in ten of them abstain from meat on Fridays in Lent (91 percent) and receive ashes on Ash Wednesday (91 percent). <\/font><\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
