Det diskuteres ogs\u00e5 hva man skal kalle en slik messe; sunget, med prest, doakon og subdiakon. P\u00e5 norsk pleide man visst \u00e5 kalle det &laquo;levittmesse&raquo; (gjorde man det ogs\u00e5 p\u00e5 andre spr\u00e5k?) eller h\u00f8ymesse (vil jeg tro), og n\u00e5r en prest alene synger messen bruker vi i alle fall i dag begrepet &laquo;Missa cantata&raquo;.
