For et par dager siden ga han <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cruxnow.com\/church\/2014\/11\/16\/what-americas-ratzinger-would-like-to-ask-pope-francis\/\">et langt intervju til John Allen<\/a>, der han bl.a. nevner noen sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l han gjerne skulle ha stilt pave Frans:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230; I\u2019ve described George before as the \u201cAmerican Ratzinger\u201d for his blend of intellectual chops and tenacious commitment to Catholic tradition, in the spirit of the former Joseph Ratzinger, the man who became Pope Benedict XVI. (For the record, George shuns the label, insisting he\u2019s not of Benedict\u2019s intellectual caliber. He is, in any event, the closest thing to it on these shores.) &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; To begin, George said he\u2019d like to ask Francis if he fully grasps that in some quarters, he\u2019s created the impression Catholic doctrine is up for grabs. Does Francis realize, for example, \u201cwhat has happened just by that phrase, \u2018Who am I to judge?\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p>Francis\u2019 signature sound-bite, George said, \u201chas been very misused \u2026 because he was talking about someone who has already asked for mercy and been given absolution, whom he knows well,\u201d George said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s entirely different than talking to somebody who demands acceptance rather than asking for forgiveness,\u201d George said. \u201cDoes he not realize the repercussions? Perhaps he doesn\u2019t,\u201d George said. \u201cI don\u2019t know whether he\u2019s conscious of all the consequences of some of the things he\u2019s said and done that raise doubts in people\u2019s minds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe question is why he doesn\u2019t he clarify\u201d these ambiguous statements, George said. \u201cWhy is it necessary that apologists have to bear the burden of trying to put the best possible face on it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said he also wonders if Francis realizes how his rhetoric has created expectations \u201che can\u2019t possibly meet.\u201d &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; Second, George said he\u2019d like to ask Francis who is providing him advice \u2014 which, he said, has become the \u201cbig question\u201d about this pope. \u201cObviously he\u2019s getting input from somewhere,\u201d George said. \u201cMuch of it he collects himself, but I\u2019d love to know who\u2019s truly shaping his thinking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Third, George noted that Francis often makes references to the Devil and the biblical notion of the end-times, but said it\u2019s not clear how that shapes his vision and agenda. &#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kardinal Francis George i Chicago er 77 \u00e5r gammel, alvorlig kreftsyk, og skal tre av fra sitt embede i morgen.
