In his lecture, entitled \u201cThe Renewal of the Liturgy and the Perennial Sense of the Church\u201d, which abounded in quotations from the New Testament, the writings of the Church Fathers and the Second Vatican Council\u2019s Constitution on the Liturgy Sacrosanctum Concilium, His Excellency pointed out that the essential feature of the sacred liturgy is the adoration of God.<\/p>\n

The Eucharistic liturgy is the most sublime realization of the first commandment of which Jesus reminded us: \u201cYou shall adore the Lord your God and worship Him alone\u201d (Mat 4:10). Bishop Athanasius referred to the liturgical norms of the Church and the importance which should be attached to them in accordance with the whole Scripture and Catholic doctrine.<\/p>\n
