Torsdag ettermiddag fikk representanter fra andre kirkesamfunn tale til bispesynoden i Roma, og biskop Gunnar Stålsett var den lutherske representanten. (For tre år siden valgte lutheranerne også også en pensjonert norsk biskop, da Per Lønning svært så direkte «Ba paven åpne nattverdbordet». Se HER – HER – HER.)
Stålsett nevner at de luthersk katolske dialogene har fokusert på hva Bibelen sier om rettferdigggjørelse, det ordinerte embete og hvordan Kirken skal forstås. Og på hvordan det lutherske norma normans og norma normata forholder seg til det katolske synet på skrift og tradisjon. Så sier han litt mer kontroversielt at alle de tre «bokens religioner» må komme til rette med skularisme og fundamentalisme (noen reagerer på at han trekker inn Islam her). Til sist kritiserer han Den katolske Kirke (litt skjult) for å ikke bruke kondomer for på bekjempe AIDS-krisen.

The theme of the Synod is truly ecumenical, it impacts all religions and has a message to the world.
The Roman Catholic-Lutheran dialogue has through more than 30 years contributed to the substance of the theme of the Synod with such central issues as the doctrine of justification, the role of the ordained ministry and the nature of the church.
The Lutheran distinction between the Holy Bible as norma normans and the confessions – or traditions of the church – as norma normata places the Holy Scriptures as the final authority of the Church.
All the three religions of the Book – Judaism, Christianity and Islam, are today in a squeeze between secularism and fundamentalism.
Freedom of religion and freedom of expression are basic human rights. This implies that there must be room in society for fundamentalist expressions of faith, even when this leads to sectarianism and divisions.
Terrorism in the name of God is an affront to all faiths as it is violence against God . The antidote to fundamentalism can only be a more genuine interpretation of Holy Scriptures. The Church must continue to balance tolerance and truth.
The millennium development goals (MDG) of the United Nations, is a call for all people of faith to overcome injustice, poverty, inequality, illiteracy and unemployment, suffering which defines the lives of a great part of humanity. The pandemic of Aids has claimed millions of lives and may be with us for generations to come. Religious communities of all faiths, not least local Catholic churches and communities, are contributing to love-inspired care. Religious interpretations are sadly also contributing to stigmatization. We need therefore to continue to seek ways, congenial to our faith, in order better to protect the life of those who are exposed to the HIV-virus, in marriage and outside.
Globalization of anxiety and despair calls for globalization of salvation and hope. Religious leaders are called to a ministry of peace and reconciliation.

Kom hjem og så at det hadde vært krøll med linken jeg sendte. Vet ikke hva som kan ha skjedd jeg. Fint at det ble rettet opp, så takk for det!
Jeg syntes det var veldig ok at denne evindelige «bøkenes religioner» ble belyst fra katolsk perspektiv. Å forstå kristendommen som en bokens religion er, som det blir påpekt i kommentaren, lutheranernes problem. Å slå sammen jødedom, kristendom og islam på den måten er også en uting i seg selv, og noe man stadig vekk ser her hjemme. Derfor syntes jeg det var viktig å sende linken (noe jeg altså ikke gjorde likevel). Som en bonus for oss her hjemme fikk den pompøse Stålsett passet påskrevet. Jeg synes også det var befriende at kommentatoren satte biskoptittelen hans i anførsel. Stålsett er ikke mer biskop enn meg.

well, time and again has the Magisterium of the Church repeated that the “religions of the book” drivel is unsupported by facts and is theologically unaccepptable. It’s just an adaption of a Muslim “theological” justifcation for the status of “dhimmis” in Muslim countries.»
Jeg syns vel denne reaksjonen er noe overdrebet, for Stålsetts poeng er faktisk noe annet, at «Judaism, Christianity and Islam, are today in a squeeze between secularism and fundamentalism».
